Job Summary

The Regional Municipality of York is seeking a skilled Charge Nurse to provide professional nursing care to residents and oversee the delivery of high-quality nursing and personal care services. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care to residents and monitor the nursing practice of Regulated Health Care Practitioners and Non-regulated Health Care Practitioners.
  • Oversight of resident care treatments and medication administration, except as warranted by the operational needs of the LTC Home.
  • Guidance, training, mentoring, and coordinating, assigning, scheduling and checking the work of assigned staff and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Assesses, plans, directs and co-ordinates all activities necessary for the LTC Home, within the standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, and Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Facility Program Standards.

Requirements

  • Currently in good standing, and retain good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) of "Entitled to Practice with no Restrictions" as a Registered Nurse.
  • Ability to successfully complete "Standard First Aid CPR-A" certification within 3 months of commencement of the role (if certification is lacking, or lapsed by more than 3 years), and to successfully complete an authorized CPR refresher annually.
  • Must have current (within the past 12 months) successful achievement of the required mandatory AIS Proficiency Evaluation Certificate for Nursing and Allied Health Disciplines, and commitment to successfully completing this certification annually.
