Job Summary:
The University of Toronto seeks a highly skilled High-Risk Investigator to join its team. As a senior investigator, you will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations into high-risk matters involving students, staff, faculty, and other community members. Your expertise in trauma-informed investigations, policy development, and conflict resolution will be essential in navigating complex cases and providing recommendations for support and case management.

About the Role:
In this critical position, you will work closely with the Director, High Risk, Investigations, and Special Projects to assess reports, develop investigative plans, conduct investigations, and produce final investigative reports. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing alternative resolution pathways, consulting with relevant individuals as needed, and maintaining detailed, secure, and confidential case records that adhere to all University retention and FIPPA policies.

Skill Requirements:
  • A graduate-level university degree in a related field, such as law, social work, psychology, public health, or criminology, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • At least eight (8) years of recent experience in conducting trauma-informed investigations, including those related to sexual violence and sexual harassment.
  • Experience with alternative resolution pathways, including mediation processes.
  • Strong organizational skills, including data/file management and evidence review.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, patience, and diplomacy when interacting with sensitive or traumatic situations.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Human Rights Code, Bill 132, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mental Health Act, and Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures, including the Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment and the Code of Student Conduct.
  • Ability to navigate parallel criminal investigations and collaborate with senior leaders on workplace safety matters.

This is a full-time salaried position within the PM 4 salary range ($104,818 - $122,290), with a broad bandwidth salary range of $104,818 - $174,698. The appointment type is Budget-Continuing, with a schedule of Full-Time.
