Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Part Time Intervenor to join our team in Cambridge, ON. This rewarding role involves supporting communication and day-to-day living for individuals who are living with dual sensory impairment, enabling them to live independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the individual in their home and community environments, promoting autonomy and confidence.
  • Utilizing effective communication techniques to relay information, fostering meaningful relationships and connections.
  • Empowering the individual supported to participate and succeed in all aspects of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, house cleaning, volunteerism, and more.
  • Providing personal care as required, such as lifts and transfers, toileting, personal hygiene, medication administration, and other essential tasks.
  • Assisting with developing and supporting individual goals and objectives, promoting growth and achievement.
  • Contributing to program development, ensuring seamless integration of support services.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and records, ensuring comprehensive tracking of client progress.

Requirements:

  • College diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program, or equivalent in Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Social Services Worker (SSW), Community Services Worker (CSW), Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA), Personal Support Worker (PSW), Behavioural Science, or a related human services field.
  • Experience supporting persons with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors, as well as those with mental health conditions.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE).
  • A valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, a clean current driver's abstract, and the ability to obtain automobile insurance with a minimum liability of $2 million.

Additional Information:

  • The position requires repetitive hand motion, good manual dexterity, and moderate stooping, bending, and lifting. The incumbent must be able to lift 35 lbs to 50 lbs on an occasional basis. The position will involve working indoors and outdoors.
  • French written and verbal skills are an asset but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills for both verbal and written English language.
