The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a part-time, permanent Registered Nurse to work on the Forensic Assessment Unit. As a member of an interprofessional team, you will provide client-centred, recovery-oriented psychiatric and general nursing care. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the security and safety of the client care environment, practicing in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards of practice, CAMH Policies and Practice Model, and the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide client-centred, recovery-oriented psychiatric and general nursing care
- Ensure the security and safety of the client care environment
- Practice in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards of practice, CAMH Policies and Practice Model, and the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice
- Work within a primary nursing model, performing assessments, developing, implementing, and evaluating interprofessional plans of care for clients from diverse backgrounds
- Liaise with other services in the CCR Program, across other CAMH programs, and across community agencies to coordinate care for clients
- Develop, implement, and monitor risk management plans and contribute to the assessment of clients' fitness for trial
- Ensure compliance with the Ontario Review Board (ORB) disposition or court orders
- Participate in the preparation of ORB and Court reports and in the implementation of risk management processes
- Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate
- Preference given to candidates who possess or are currently pursuing a BScN and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to make behavioral observations, conduct mental status and risk assessments, and monitor client responses to pharmaceutical interventions
- Sound knowledge of crisis intervention, addiction issues, recovery model, forensic psychiatry, risk assessments, and severe and persistent mental illness
- Part-time, permanent position
- 0.3 commitment, subject to change as per the Collective Agreement
- Additional hours may be available based on operational needs
- Part of the ONA Bargaining Unit
