As a Physician Assistant in our Emergency Department, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team providing high-quality patient care. Our organization is committed to delivering excellent healthcare services that meet the unique needs of our community.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a motivated Physician Assistant to work in a fast-paced emergency environment. You will be responsible for performing clinical duties and responsibilities under the supervision of a PA Emergency Program Physician Supervisor. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise while working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

- Provide high-quality patient care in accordance with established medical guidelines and protocols
- Conduct thorough assessments, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
- Perform various procedures, including minor surgeries and other interventions as needed
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals

Requirements

- Two years' recent experience working in an emergency department setting (preferred but not essential)
- Proof of compliance with continuing professional development requirements of the PACCC or the NCCPA, and satisfactory to the CPSBC
- Maintenance of Physician Assistant licensure with the CPSBC throughout the duration of employment
- Meets the CPSBC's English language proficiency requirements
- Holds Canadian Citizenship, permanent residency, or is legally able to live and work in British Columbia

Mandatory Certifications

- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (with current Basic Life Support)
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (Advanced Pediatric Life Support may be considered as an equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications

- Advanced Trauma Life Support
- Independent Practitioner Status for FAST Point of Care Ultrasound
- Airway Interventions & Management in Emergencies (AIME) Course in previous four years
- CASTED Course

Skills and Abilities

- Proficient English communication skills, including with patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals
- Effective and efficient computer and written communication skills, including order entry and clinical documentation
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment and under the supervision of assigned supervisors
- Carries out professional duties in the face of multiple, competing demands
- Physical ability to carry out duties of position, including evening and overnight shifts

Assessment and Probationary Period

The probationary period will consist of 12 weeks during which time the PA will undergo assessment and evaluation of their competence to perform duties in intended specialty areas under a supervising physician.
