We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team at SMS Equipment Inc.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment, with a focus on logic and deductive reasoning. The successful applicant will be able to diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized testing equipment, make recommendations regarding repairs, and interpret work orders and technical manuals.
This is a field-based position that requires strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety. The technician will be required to lift up to 50 pounds and work remotely in adverse weather conditions.
The estimated salary for this position is $54.45 per hour, inclusive of base rate and applicable premiums.
About the RoleThis Heavy Equipment Technician position is responsible for performing assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs, and complete overhauls on heavy equipment. This includes diagnosing faults or malfunctions, making recommendations regarding repairs, and interpreting work orders and technical manuals.
- Strong commitment to safety
- Experience in repair/maintenance of heavy equipment
- Strong written and verbal communication
A Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification is required, along with a valid Class 5/G drivers license. Interprovincial Red Seal certification is considered an asset, as is experience with Komatsu equipment.
