Position Overview

Our Automation & Digitalization division is seeking an Electrical & Controls Project Engineer or Technologist to join our team in Terrace, BC. This role involves designing, developing, and delivering high-quality electrical and control engineering projects that enhance plant productivity, reliability, and sustainability for our North American customers.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Collaborating with customers and colleagues to resolve operational challenges and support system upgrade projects;
  2. Auditing industrial facilities and developing preliminary engineering designs and estimates for electrical and control system upgrades;
  3. Designing industrial LV and MV electrical power systems, including equipment specifications, motor control and grounding systems, cable and raceway sizing and layouts, and electrical room design;
  4. Preparing and evaluating tender and construction packages, including electrical and instrumentation drawings, installation specifications, and other supporting documentation;
  5. Completing electrical, control, and instrumentation system design, including P&ID drawings, control system and network architecture, and instrumentation systems;
  6. Designing control strategies to optimize performance and programming and configuring DCS and PLC/HMI applications;
  7. Performing system checkout, testing, and commissioning.
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or technology diploma in electrical engineering;
  • Experience in industrial automation engineering an asset;
  • Experience in pulp & paper; mining and/or chemical industries an asset;
  • Resourceful, self-managed, and goal-driven but still able to work effectively in a team;
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills (English);
  • Registered as a or AScT in British Columbia;
  • Practical knowledge of North American standards;
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada;
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites (typically 5-20%).

Other valued, but non-essential skills, abilities, and experience include:

  • Consulting engineering experience;
  • Site audit, commissioning, construction, and start-up experience.

Salary Range: 71,000 to 115,000; commensurate with experience, based on a 40 hour work week.
