Job Opening: Electrical & Controls Project Engineer/Technologist

Our Automation & Digitalization division is currently seeking an Electrical & Controls Project Engineer or Technologist to join our Terrace, BC office. This position would be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of high-quality, innovative electrical and control engineering projects that improve plant productivity, reliability, and sustainability for our North American customers. Responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  1. Collaborate with customers and coworkers to solve the customer's operational challenges and support their system upgrade projects.
  2. Audit industrial facilities and develop preliminary engineering designs and estimates for electrical and control
    system upgrades.
  3. Design industrial LV and MV electrical power systems, including equipment specifications, motor control and grounding systems, cable and raceway sizing and layouts, and electrical room design.
  4. Prepare and evaluate tender and construction packages, including electrical and instrumentation drawings, installation specifications, and other supporting documentation.
  5. Complete electrical, control and instrumentation system design including P&ID drawings, control system and network architecture, and instrumentation systems.
  6. Design control strategies to optimize performance, and program and configure DCS and PLC/HMI applications.
  7. Perform system checkout, testing, and commissioning.
Requirements:

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or technology diploma in electrical engineering.
  • Experience in industrial automation engineering an asset.
  • Experience in pulp & paper; mining and/or chemical industries an asset.
  • Resourceful, self-managed, and goal driven but still able to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills (English).
  • Registered as a or AScT in British Columbia.
  • Practical knowledge of North American standards.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites (typically 5-20%).

Other valued, but non-essential skills, abilities, and experience include:

  • Consulting engineering experience.
  • Site audit, commissioning, construction, and start-up experience.
