Financial Controller

Our Toronto-based client, a leading geotextiles distributor and manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support their finance team.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the Director of Finance to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Examine and analyze financial records, documents, and systems to ensure compliance with established accounting standards and internal controls.
- Manage or assist with internal and external audits, preparing detailed reports on audit outcomes and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Lead, train, and develop finance and accounting staff.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Public Accounting experience preferred.
- CPA designation or progress towards CPA certification.
- 4+ years of experience in financial accounting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong business acumen with the ability to see beyond the numbers.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort in interacting with all levels of management.
- Competitive salary range: $115-120,000/year (plus bonus).
- Hybrid work arrangement after training.
- Monday-Friday schedule (8am-4pm or 9am-5pm).
