Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice - Equipment Maintenance and Repair Professional

About the Job:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our team at GFL Environmental in Trail, BC. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned professionals in the field of heavy equipment maintenance and repair.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on commercial motor vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair operational difficulties with heavy duty trucks and equipment, using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Complete reports, work orders, and other administrative duties as required.
  • Plan and schedule repairs in our M5 planner, procure parts, and coordinate repair schedules.
  • Assist in the review of mechanical write-ups on equipment and coordinate repair schedules.
Requirements:
  • Completion of 1st and 2nd year of certification in heavy duty mechanics.
  • Previous work experience in the waste industry is an asset.
  • Computer literacy and ability to learn software systems.
  • Meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards.
  • Use diagnostic software and maintain accurate records.
  • Operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job duties.
