About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Education Assistant II to join our team at Parkland School Division. As an Education Assistant II, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational needs of our students, particularly those with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers with instructional and non-instructional tasks in the classroom and with other school activities.
  • Work as a member of the school and as a member of a student support team.
  • Provide routine and repetitive instructional support to students, under the direction of the teacher.
  • Assist students with personal care and hygiene, including feeding, toileting, and dressing.
  • Supervise students during activities, including field trips and recess.
  • Communicate with teachers, parents, and other staff members to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • Teacher Assistant Certificate or Educational Assistant Certificate (an asset)
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and First Aid Certificate (an asset)
  • Courses related to working with students with special needs (an asset)
  • 1-3 years of related experience
Working Conditions

Educational Assistants work indoors, except when supervising children outdoors or going on field trips. They may have the same holiday schedule as teachers, including a long summer break and winter and spring breaks. However, they work on a ten-month contract basis and are not paid during the summer months.
