Animal Care Assistant

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Care Attendant to join our team at the BC SPCA. As a key member of our animal care team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the animal enclosures and facilities
- Provide excellent care and attention to the animals, including feeding, watering, and exercise
- Monitor the health and welfare of the animals and report any concerns to the Animal Centre Manager
- Perform general bathing and grooming of animals as needed
- Treat animals humanely and with compassion, in accordance with the BC SPCA's five freedoms
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract
- Strong desire to provide excellent customer service skills and work collaboratively as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Resourceful and motivated individual who is able to work independently and as part of a team
- A sound knowledge of animals, their breeds, characteristics, and common diseases
- Previous kennel or animal care experience is an asset
