Senior BIM Manager Job Description

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Senior BIM Manager to join our team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in driving the adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) across our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaison for BIM-related subject matter: Act as a liaison for BIM-related subject matter both internally and externally, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Developing BIM standards and process improvements: Develop interdisciplinary standards and process improvements related to BIM project delivery, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
  • Project setup and delivery: Provide direction and assist project teams with project setup and delivery, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  • Reviewing projects for adherence to firm and project standards: Review projects for adherence to firm and project standards, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Evaluating and recommending BIM-related software: Evaluate and recommend BIM-related software, ensuring the best tools for the job.
  • Creating end-user training and support materials: Create end-user training and support materials, ensuring seamless adoption and utilization.
  • Leading the set-up, maintenance, and development of project models: Lead the set-up, maintenance, and development of project models, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Developing families and other electronic template materials: Develop families and other electronic template materials, following corporate guidelines for our multidisciplinary studios.
  • Overseeing and leading in the development of BIM Execution Plans: Oversee and lead in the development of BIM Execution Plans for projects, ensuring effective planning and execution.
  • Ensuring adherence of project models to the requirements of the BIM Execution Plan: Ensure the adherence of project models to the requirements of the BIM Execution Plan, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Communicating corporate initiatives and standards to the studio: Communicate corporate initiatives and standards to the studio, ensuring seamless adoption and utilization.
  • Providing in-house BIM support: Provide in-house BIM support, including creating electronic data files, converting markups to document-ready work, publishing, posting, and managing drawing sets, maintaining drawing revisions, assisting other staff with Revit issues, mentoring design staff in Design Technology systems use, and adding insight and making recommendations to add efficiencies and value to BIM production.
  • Increasing technical and project knowledge: Increase technical and project knowledge by proactively identifying and participating in training opportunities.
  • Attending in-house project meetings and external meetings: Attend in-house project meetings and external meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Actively participating in meetings, initiatives, and projects: Actively participate in meetings, initiatives, and projects that support studio and firm-wide goals.
Qualifications:
  • Strong working knowledge of recent versions of Revit: Strong working knowledge of recent versions of Revit, and how they are applied within the built environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Building Information Modeling: Strong working knowledge of Building Information Modeling.
  • Certifications relevant to the position: Certifications relevant to the position.
  • Revit family creation and maintenance: Revit family creation and maintenance.
  • Skilled at clash detection in Revit: Skilled at clash detection in Revit, with Navisworks detection skills preferred.
  • Client-centric approach: Client-centric, can-do approach to project work and assignments.
  • Familiarity with methods of design: Familiarity with methods of design to support the architectural/engineering field.
  • High level of initiative: High level of initiative, with ability to synthesize new technologies, industry trends, and client needs to make recommendations and initiative changes that add efficiency and value.
  • Ability to multi-task: Ability to multi-task and synthesize multiple data points and instructions to timely produce accurate deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience:
  • Certificate from technical college: Certificate from technical college. Advanced degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with Revit, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience on projects in excess of 750,000 square feet: Experience on projects in excess of 750,000 square feet preferred.
  • Related experience in the architectural/engineering/contractor industry: Related experience in the architectural/engineering/contractor industry.
  • Familiarity with architectural or engineering design: Familiarity with architectural or engineering design within the built environment is preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare and industrial market sectors: Experience in healthcare and industrial market sectors preferred.
  • Experience with modeling software: Experience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit required, Navisworks, Rhino, dRofus preferred).
  • Experience with general business software: Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite).
