Senior Accounting Professional

Our client, a leading Manufacturing Firm, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading the accounting department and reporting directly to the Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly forecasts and annual budget commentaries, and investigate variances.
• Perform month-end close, including journal entries and accruals.
• Manage fixed assets, including physical count, handling of capital appropriation requests, performing ROI analysis, and supporting non-finance leaders on investment decisions.
• Oversee managerial cost management functions, including costing standards, controls, analytics, EOZ, and physical inventory process.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly account reconciliations.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls, monitor compliance, and maintain adequate documentation.
• Serve as the key contact for annual internal SOX audit and any external audits.
• Ensure compliance with taxes, including HST and US state sales.
• Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual tax information submissions.
• Partner with internal and cross-functional teams to support ad-hoc requests.
• Demonstrate a Controller's mindset, ensuring all activities are executed in compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and Corporate reporting policies.
Requirements:
• A University/College degree in accounting, along with a professional accounting designation such as CPA or actively working towards obtaining one.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting and at least 1 year of leadership experience.
• Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SOX, with experience driving improvements in internal controls.
• Demonstrated planning, organizational, and time management skills.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles.
• Precise attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact clearly and confidently with all levels in the organization.
• High level of integrity and ethical standards.
• Advanced Excel skills.
