Senior Accounting Professional

Go2STAFFING is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to lead our accounting department and report directly to the Controller. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving all accounting processes and procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure all financial statements and schedules are completed in a timely and accurate manner
• Assist in the preparation of monthly forecasts and annual budget commentaries, and investigate variances
• Perform month-end close, including journal entries and accruals
• Manage fixed assets, including physical count, handling of capital appropriation requests, performing ROI analysis, and supporting non-finance leaders on investment decisions
• Oversee managerial cost management functions, including costing standards, controls, analytics, and physical inventory process
• Ensure monthly account reconciliations are performed accurately, completely, and on time
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls, monitor compliance, and maintain adequate documentation
• Serve as the key contact for annual internal SOX audit and any external audits
• Ensure compliance with taxes, including HST and US state sales
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax information submissions
• Partner with internal and cross-functional teams to support ad-hoc requests
Requirements
A University/College degree in accounting, along with a professional accounting designation such as CPA or actively working towards obtaining one
3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting and at least 1 year of leadership experience
Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SOX, with experience driving improvements in internal controls
Demonstrated planning, organizational, and time management skills
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles
Precise attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact clearly and confidently with all levels in the organization
High level of integrity and ethical standards
Advanced Excel skills
