Job Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and team-oriented instructor to teach within our Heavy Equipment Technician Programs at SAIT. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting lessons to learners, instructing and supervising learners in a classroom and shop environment, and providing ongoing support and guidance to learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and present lessons to learners
  • Instruct, supervise, and coach learners in a classroom and shop environment
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and feedback to learners by assessing and evaluating learner progress and achievement
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create an engaging and positive work and learning environment
  • Continuously develop professionally by enhancing both technical knowledge and instructional skills
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students

Qualifications and Experience
  • Must have at least five years' experience as a journeyperson in either off-road equipment and/or on-road vehicles or equivalent
  • Alberta Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate or equivalent with interprovincial (Red Seal) status is preferred
  • Candidates who are red seal certified in a related trade (such as millwright, trailer technician, or automotive service technician) may be considered
  • Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated experience and are up to date with current technologies specifically in diesel engines, electrical & electronics, braking systems, and suspension systems and hydraulics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, OEM proprietary software (Wabco, Cat ET, etc.) and/or other related software (Adobe suite, D2L etc.) will be considered assets
  • Dual certification will be considered an asset (Automotive & Heavy Duty)
  • Prior teaching experience will also be considered an asset
