Job Description

Job Title: Permanent Teacher Position - Indigenous Language Instructor

Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified and experienced teacher to join our team as a Permanent Teacher Position - Indigenous Language Instructor. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Ojibwe language and culture to students in a Catholic education setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Ojibwe language and culture to students in a Catholic education setting
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the Ontario College of Teachers' standards
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices

Requirements:

  • Current membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Primary/Junior/Intermediate qualifications
  • Indigenous Language Instructor's Program
  • Fluent in Ojibwe, both oral and written
  • Ability to implement a shared vision consistent with the principles of Catholic Education
  • Ability to integrate the Catholic Graduate Expectations and Seven Grandfather teachings within the curriculum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching Ojibwe language and culture
  • Experience working in a Catholic education setting
