Job Summary:

The Cable Assembler will be responsible for assembling cable harnesses and circuit boards within prescribed tolerances and time frames. The successful candidate will operate coding, cutting, and testing equipment, and be conversant with related safety regulations and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture and repair electrical harnesses for installation by soldering, crimping, twisting, encapsulation, and testing.
  • Assemble assemblies using production control cards, wire assembly operation sheets, and/or other company or customer process specifications.
  • Solder to standards established by the company with regular requalification.
  • Operate cut & coding as well as labeling machines.
  • Fabricate cable assemblies by grouping, twisting, sleeving, potting, tying, and prepares assemblies for stores.
  • Operate automatic test equipment for acceptance testing of wire assemblies or circuit boards.
  • Manufacture/repair circuit board and component wiring with assistance from engineering drawings, technical manuals, or other directives.
  • Assist on-job-training of other cable assemblers.
Requirements:
  • High School Leaving Certificate or Vocational/Trade School training course.
  • Training in a mechanical/electrical field and a blueprint reading course will be an asset.
  • Four (4) years of experience as a Cable Assembler and completed all O.J.T. performance objectives.
  • Public Works Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and Transport Canada security clearances.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment policies.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 5S activities in your area.
  • Eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program.
