Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at CPKC. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on all systems associated with our Work Equipment group, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic machinery/equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
  • Conduct inspections and tests to identify potential issues and take corrective action
  • Repair or replace parts as needed, using limited resources in remote locations
  • Investigate and resolve equipment problems, minimizing impact on crew production
  • Plan and coordinate work with other team members
  • Prepare and submit maintenance records and time sheets
  • Obtain certification in CPKC safety rules
Requirements
  • Journeyman's certificate as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic/Technician or equivalent experience
  • Ability to monitor gauges, instruments, and processes
  • Problem-solving skills with judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing demands

Working Conditions

This is a safety-sensitive position, and the successful candidate will be required to complete a pre-employment medical and pass a drug test. The work location is outdoors, and the candidate will be required to work in all weather conditions.
