Job Summary

AGS Automotive Systems is a leading manufacturer of complex automotive metal components, specializing in front and rear impact assemblies for the heavy truck market. We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to join our team.

Responsibilities
  • Design, create, repair, and test prototypes and production tools, including dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and specialty tools.
  • Develop, repair, and modify tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and specifications of tools, dies, prototypes, or models.
  • Perform various metalworking tasks, including cutting, shaping, and trimming blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes.
  • Position, secure, and measure metal stock or castings to lay out for machining.
  • Work with internal departments for design input, fabrication, and modifications to tools and dies.
  • Ensure timely completion of repairs, new dies, tolling, fixtures, and jigs, as required.
  • Estimate hours required to build a complete set of tools and break down individual hours for each detail by machine, if required.
  • Inspect and test completed tools, dies, jigs, or fixtures for proper operation.
  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance on tools and dies.
  • Modify dies and tooling to conform to engineering changes.
  • Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Must hold a valid 430A Ontario Certificate of Qualification issued by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities or served a bona fide apprenticeship of 8,000 hours or 9,000 hours as applicable, or has eight years practical experience in the skilled trades' classification in which he/she claims journey person designation and can prove the same.
  • Able to meet all physical demands of the job, including lifting heavy loads, standing for long periods of time, shift rotation, and working in hot and cold environments.
