Job Summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Exercise Instructor to join our Cardiac Rehab team. As an Exercise Instructor, you will play a vital role in providing exercise instruction and assisting with the ongoing development and evaluation of the service model of the Cardiac Rehab Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exercise instruction and assist with the development and evaluation of the Cardiac Rehab Program
  • Assess and identify patient goals, plan, implement, and evaluate patient progress with other team members
  • Practice within the program's standards of care and perform patient care documentation in accordance with professional standards and hospital policy
  • Participate and facilitate patient/family education utilizing adult education principles and motivational interviewing
  • Ensure a safe environment for all patients and staff/volunteers
Qualifications
  • Health-related College diploma at minimum required and/or Baccalaureate Degree in a regulated health profession preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years direct exercise instructional/progression related experience with Cardiac Rehab type population
  • Excellent goal setting, exercise progression, and assessment skills
  • BCLS required
  • ACSM Exercise Specialist certification or equivalent preferred or in progress
  • Working knowledge of adult learning principles and coaching techniques
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with patients and team members
  • Experience with organizing, coordinating, and overseeing large volumes of patients in a short period of time
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and leverage sound clinical decision-making
  • Well-developed negotiation and conflict-resolution skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
Additional Requirements
  • Hours: 8 am-8 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays (hours are subject to change based on operational needs)
  • Salary: Competitive hourly rate
