Job Summary

The City of Hamilton is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the efficient operation of our water and wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment facilities, including pumps, valves, and other equipment
  • Monitor and control treatment processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and optimal water quality
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities
  • Collect and analyze water and wastewater samples to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination

Requirements

  • Current valid Operator-in-Training license in Wastewater Treatment System Operation, Wastewater Collection Operation, Water Treatment System Operation, and Water Distribution Operation
  • Ability to obtain Level I or higher certification in Wastewater Treatment Operation, Wastewater Collection Operation, Water Treatment Operation, and Water Distribution Operation
  • Previous experience in water and wastewater treatment preferred
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance
  • Valid and unrestricted Class G license for the class of vehicle operated

Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires working on a rotating shift schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
