This role is part of our dynamic team based out of Vancouver, working on electrical distribution infrastructure for clients across the region. As an Intermediate Electrical Distribution Engineer, you will provide technical expertise for infrastructure development, including poles, wires, vaults, duct banks, and cables, ensuring compliance with client standards, engineering principles, guidelines, policies, and safety regulations.

About the Role
  • Support daily operations, from response to service requests to project delivery, efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop design work packages with scope, schedule, and effort estimates.
  • Assist in resolving design and field engineering problems through independent studies and analysis, using sound judgment to recommend safe designs for successful operations and project completion.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating with stakeholders and performing activities such as defining the scope of distribution engineering services, establishing basic design criteria with the client, approving technical documentation, and assessing work progress against standards, objectives, and specifications.
  • Provide specialized expertise in distribution, setting high standards for work performance and influencing the establishment of standards, frameworks, and targets for junior members of the team.
  • Exercise innovation to propose creative modifications to improve work processes, guidelines, instructions, procedures, and standards where possible.
  • Design overhead and underground facilities for voltages up to 35kV in electric utility environments such as line rebuilds, structure replacements, cable replacements, voltage conversions, manhole/vault replacements, and duct banks.
  • Attend site visits as required for project data and design confirmation, troubleshooting, construction support, and quality assurance inspections.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in an engineering role with specific distribution knowledge, ideally within British Columbia.
  • P.Eng designation or eligibility to become a P.Eng with EGBC.
  • Experience working with utilities in Western Canada.
  • Expertise in overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV.
  • Good communication skills to articulate and discuss technical options and present proposed solutions to various audiences.
  • Familiarity with GIS, CAD systems, and drawing standards.
  • Ability to use standard industry design/analysis software such as SPIDAcalc and PLSCAD.
  • Capacity to work with remote partners and team members, maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and employees, and be available for occasional travel (mostly within Western Canada).
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is between $80,000 and $110,000, depending on the richness and diversity of your experience, training, skills, and internal equity.
