Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Animal Care Attendant to join our team at the BC SPCA. As a key member of our shelter staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of animals in our care.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of animal enclosures, including kennels, runs, and cat cages.
  • Providing excellent animal care, including feeding, watering, and administering medications as needed.
  • Working collaboratively with other staff members to maintain a positive and harmonious work environment.
  • Assisting with front office duties, including telephone reception, counter inquiries, and adoption procedures.
  • Performing other duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract.
  • Demonstrable interest in animal welfare and a sound knowledge of animal behavior and health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in front office software.
