Job Summary

The City of Ottawa's Forestry Field Operations unit is responsible for managing the city's forestry operations, including tree maintenance, pruning, and removal. We are seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Tree Worker.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform tree maintenance, pruning, and removal tasks in a safe and efficient manner
  • Operate specialized equipment, such as chainsaws and aerial lifts
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve forestry operations goals
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12 plus 20 weeks of additional formal training in planting, maintenance, and removal of trees in the urban landscape
  • Minimum of 2 years of tree climbing and pruning experience
  • Certified Tree Worker with International Society of Arboriculture (ISA)
  • Valid Ontario Exterminator licence - Land extermination in the following classes: Forestry, Landscape, and Industrial Vegetation
  • Valid Ontario unrestricted DZ class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
