Job Summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking a skilled Tree Worker to join our Forestry Field Operations unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, pruning, removal, and disease control of City of Ottawa trees and shrubs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform duties related to tree maintenance, repair, pruning, removal, and disease control
  • Work in close proximity to power lines and follow electrical and utilities safety rules
  • Operate mobile crane, chainsaw, and arboricultural equipment
  • Conduct field reports and maintain accurate records
  • Collaborate with other workers, supervisors, and agencies to achieve team goals
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12 plus 20 weeks of additional formal training in planting, maintenance, and removal of trees in the urban landscape
  • Minimum of 2 years of tree climbing and pruning experience
  • Certified Tree Worker with International Society of Arboriculture (ISA)
  • Valid Ontario Exterminator licence - Land extermination in the following classes: Forestry, Landscape, and Industrial Vegetation
  • Valid Ontario unrestricted DZ class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
