Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Personal Support Worker to join our Float Pool team at Sault Area Hospital. As a Personal Support Worker, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to patients in various clinical areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and support to patients, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as eating, toileting, and transferring.
  • Monitor and report any changes in patient condition or occurrences/incidents to the nurse.
  • Operate mechanical lifts and utilize assistive devices as directed.
  • Collect and record patient data, including vital signs and intake/output.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
  • Participate in care conferences and contribute to the efficient and competent management of the unit.

Qualifications:

  • Personal Support Worker certification from an approved college program.
  • Competence in BCLS.

Requirements:

  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including extended standing, walking, lifting, and climbing.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain successful working relationships with the interdisciplinary team.
