Job Title: Greenhouse Labourer

We are seeking a skilled Greenhouse Labourer to join our team at Forging Ahead Inc. As a Greenhouse Labourer, you will be responsible for maintaining the health and productivity of our greenhouse crops.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable lots and non-marketable lots
  • Perform greenhouse cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • Assist with hand harvesting vegetables and other crops
  • Mix and apply fertilizers as needed
  • Operate climate controls to maintain optimal growing conditions
  • Train trees to produce more fruit of higher quality
  • Weeding and other crop maintenance tasks
  • Write daily progress reports to track crop health and productivity
  • Assist with pruning trees, shrubs, and plants as needed
  • Mix and prepare soils for planting
  • Plant bulbs and seeds in a timely manner
  • Pot and re-pot plants as needed
  • Transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings to ensure optimal growth
  • Apply insecticides and fungicides as needed to protect crops
  • Report signs of insect or disease damage to management
  • Dig up wrapping rootballs of trees and shrubs as needed
  • Water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens as required
  • Clean work area to maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas
Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Repetitive tasks
  • Physically demanding work
  • Standing for extended periods
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling
  • Attention to detail
  • Overtime required
Working Conditions:

This is a physically demanding role that requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be required to stand for extended periods, bend, crouch, and kneel as needed. A criminal record check and own vehicle are also required for this position.
