We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Sienna Senior Living. As a critical role within our communities, this position has a significant impact on the lives of residents and fosters human connection.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, your typical day will be filled with providing nursing care in accordance with established policy, physician's orders, and the resident plan of care. You will utilize sound nursing practice principles to deliver excellent nursing and personal care in the assigned home area(s).

You will ensure the supply, control, and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics, following protocols on all assigned shifts. A comfortable and safe environment is essential, providing opportunities for privacy, dignity, autonomy, independence, and individuality. You will maintain personal lifestyle and values while seeking direction from the RN when resident needs exceed experience or scope of practice.

Exercising sound nursing judgment, you will report any change in resident status in a timely manner to the Registered Nurse as necessary, taking appropriate action. You will foster an atmosphere conducive to optimal care and effective functioning of the assigned resident home area through collaboration with other team members, monitoring resident care, communicating with residents and family members, and guiding Personal Support Workers/Unregulated team members assigned to the care unit.

Liaising with medical team members, nurse specialists, consultants, and supporting effective clinical care for all residents, you will continually assess your own nursing practice and learning needs. You will participate in and attend in-service programs provided by the community as well as conferences, seminars, and workshops.

You will document priorities, target dates, and strategies or interventions on the individualized care plan to achieve the best possible outcomes for each resident. Working with the resident, family members, and interprofessional team, you will systematically collect data for the nursing history on admission, readmission, and change in status, and provide ongoing assessment and documentation.

Requirements include a Diploma in Practical Nursing, current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses BC, successful annual completion of RAI MDS certification as per Ministry of Health requirements for AIS, and current First Aid with CPR. Long-term care experience is also required.
