About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Operator to join our Infrastructure & Operations team at Empire Life. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to take on a key role in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our cloud-based infrastructure and applications.

As a Cloud Operator, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth and reliable operation of our cloud services. You will be responsible for monitoring cloud infrastructure and applications, responding to alerts and incidents, and performing routine maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  1. Performance Monitoring - Monitor cloud infrastructure and applications for performance issues, security threats, and availability.
  2. Incident Response - Respond to alerts and incidents, troubleshoot problems, and escalate issues as needed.
  3. Maintenance and Upgrades - Perform routine maintenance tasks such as patching, backups, and log analysis.
  4. Cloud Resource Management - Deploy and configure cloud resources such as virtual machines, storage, and networking components.
  5. Collaboration - Collaborate with development teams to ensure applications are designed and deployed for optimal cloud performance.
  6. Security - Follow security best practices and contribute to the overall security posture of the cloud environment.
  7. Documentation - Document procedures and processes related to cloud operations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years work experience in a computer operations environment including coop and internship experience.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP preferred).
  • Completion of a community college diploma with courses in network administration and design, operating systems, computer hardware, data communication standards and protocols, scripting procedures.
  • Experience with Linux or Windows server administration.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls).
  • Scripting skills (Bash, Python, or PowerShell).
  • Experience with monitoring tools and log analysis.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of IT security best practices.
