Carpentry Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at Keats Island Construction and Services LTD. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the construction and maintenance of residential and commercial buildings.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
- Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
- Prepare tenders and quotations
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
- Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
- Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
- Survey building locations and levels
- Instruct apprentices
- Supervise other workers
- Estimate costs and materials
- Operate CADD and other computer software systems
- Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
The work environment for this position will be outdoors, with exposure to noise, dust, and physical demands. The successful candidate will be required to work at various locations and may be required to work overtime.
Requirements:- 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in the trade
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift heavy loads and work at heights
- Mileage paid
- Permanent employment
- 40 to 45 hours per week
- English language of work
