Job Summary

We're seeking a Labour Administrator Student for our Canadian Industrial Division in Edmonton, Alberta. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to our workforce planning and recruitment efforts by assisting with screening resumes, conducting interviews, and maintaining accurate databases of potential workers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with resume screening and interviewing for job opportunities
  • Maintain accurate databases of potential workers
  • Filing necessary documentation: resumes, jobsite information, apprenticeship, safety tickets, etc.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire qualified candidates to fill job requirements
  • Treat all documentation, wage information, and personal information in a confidential manner, in accordance with PCL policies and guidelines
  • Communicate compensation packages to new hires
  • Confirm technical qualifications with provincial apprenticeship boards and other certificate issuing authorities
  • Coordinate safety training for new hires as per job requirements
  • Understand requirements for workers on site
  • Answer phone calls and emails from candidates or potential candidates
  • Assist with various department administration tasks when necessary

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree or diploma with a Human Resources Major preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of various computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook)
  • Proactive in anticipating needs and follow-up items for the project team
  • Able to maintain confidentiality required of work assignments and independent and resourceful to accomplish day-to-day tasks and assignments
  • Demonstrate initiative and handle multiple tasks and changing priorities under tight deadlines, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and professionalism
