Job Title: Second Engineer

Job Summary:

Algoma Central Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Second Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Engine Department personnel and the maintenance of machinery, in line with the Chief Engineer's directions.

Responsibilities:

* Ensure safe standards of operation in all departmental activities
* Perform duties in accordance with the Canada Shipping Act and Regulations, Canada Labour Code, Company Policies and Procedures
* Maintain and operate machinery in a safe and efficient manner
* Supervise and coordinate the work of Engine Department personnel

Requirements:

* 1st or 2nd Class Motor Engineer Certificate
* Specialized Oil Tanker Endorsement
* MED training with respect to STCW Basic Safety
* MED training with respect to proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats
* MED in advanced fire fighting
* Marine Medical
* Personnel with Security Duties

Preferred Qualifications:

* Minimum 2 years recent experience working on tanker vessels
* Experience with Safety Management Systems
* Excellent leadership skills
* Ability to analyze and adjust work procedures for maximum efficiency
* Knowledge of English language is required
