Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician will work under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, in collaboration with the Team Lead and Pharmacist, to assist the pharmacist in their duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing tasks related to the preparation and distribution of medications, inventory management, and data collection. Key responsibilities include:
- Verifying prepared doses and magistral preparations
- Receiving and sorting pharmaceutical orders
- Constituting, consulting, and updating patient pharmacotherapeutic profiles
- Preparing and distributing daily medication services
- Conducting research to complete a comprehensive medication history
- Participating in continuous quality improvement, staff training, and documentation of activities
- Verifying inventory compliance in patient care units, services, and storage areas
- Preparing sterile solutions and extemporaneous products
- Maintaining up-to-date records for controlled substance distribution and use
- Cleaning and maintaining pharmacy equipment and materials
- Compiling data and contributing to statistical reports and other departmental documents
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A valid registration (permit) from the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- A valid certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- A minimum of six (6) months of experience in the past two (2) years in community or hospital pharmacy settings
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques, pharmaceutical arithmetic, and medical and pharmaceutical terminology
- Proficiency in using computer software (Microsoft Office, Meditech, internet)
- Intermediate-level proficiency in both official languages (French and English)
