Qualifications and Experience

We are seeking a highly qualified Early Childhood Educator with a Special Needs Certificate to join our team at Island Health. The ideal candidate will have a Certificate in Early Childhood Education from a recognized post-secondary institution and a Special Needs Education certificate. A valid license to practice in BC as an Early Childhood Educator and Special Needs Educator is also required. Recent experience working with children with special needs is essential, with a minimum of three to five years of experience in a related field. A valid First-Aid Certificate is also necessary.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage work effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to orient, instruct, and evaluate students and volunteers.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Functional use of alternative modes of communication, such as sign language.
