Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in the health care system by collecting, processing, analyzing, and interpreting diagnostic laboratory findings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide laboratory services in the specialties of Bio-Chemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Science.
  • Collect, process, and analyze laboratory specimens.
  • Interpret laboratory results and communicate findings to healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely test results.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure laboratory standards are met.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a program in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Registration and membership in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
  • Minimum of one (1) year previous laboratory experience within a hospital environment.
  • Knowledge of Cerner LIS is an asset.
  • Experience in specimen grossing is an asset.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to solve technical problems.
  • High level of initiative, open to change, and proactive to new initiatives.
  • Team and customer-focused with excellent communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including regular use of Outlook, Risk Monitor Pro, and Internet/Intranet navigation.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate must be available to work all tours applicable to the department and be flexible to occasional changes in hours when required to meet the operational needs of the department.
