Job Summary


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Communications Consultant to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our Communications and Public Affairs team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategic communication plans that support our organization’s vision, values, and goals.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation to internal stakeholders, including Executive Directors, Medical Directors, and other Fraser Health leaders, on strategic communication strategies and plans.
  • Develop and implement communication plans that engage internal and external audiences, including employees, physicians, volunteers, patients, and the community.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Communications and Public Affairs team to promote a positive corporate image and organizational strategies in health service delivery.
  • Develop and recommend strategic communications and promotional plans for Fraser Health-wide and local programs based on effective situational analyses.
  • Provide supervision and work direction to assigned staff, including selecting, hiring, orienting, and evaluating employees.
  • Coordinate and evaluate external and internal suppliers involved in communications-related projects, including writing, language translation, graphic design, web design, printing, photography, video production, signage, and site maps.
  • Oversee assigned project budget and deadlines, and ensure that suppliers and internal clients adhere to corporate graphical standards and other standards and requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate media publicity for local and Fraser Health-wide activities, events, and programs to promote a positive corporate image and organizational strategies in health service delivery.
  • Develop community action plans, including setting objectives, coordinating internal speakers and community display/exhibit opportunities, and evaluating results.
  • Attend and participate on various regional, local, and program-related committees to provide strategic communications counsel and support.


Qualifications

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Communications Consultant with a university degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related discipline, and five to seven years of recent related experience in a communications or public affairs role in a large public sector, healthcare, or similarly complex organization.


The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of communications concepts, strategies, and technical skills, as well as the ability to provide strategic counsel to others, plan and write a broad range of copy in various media, and manage projects on budget and on deadline.


The candidate will also have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, plan and coordinate effective media publicity and special events, problem-solve and resolve conflicts, develop and maintain rapport and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and operate related equipment, including applicable software applications.
