Job Title: Junior Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Type: Full-time

Location: East of the GTA, preferably in the Durham region

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our QA team. In this role, you will focus on testing media distribution systems, ensuring that our solutions meet the highest quality standards. You will collaborate with software developers and senior QA engineers to write and execute test cases, set up test environments, identify bugs, validate features, and ensure smooth product releases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute manual test cases to validate functionality, performance, and usability of media distribution solutions.
  • Assist in reviewing and analyzing product specifications to create detailed, well-structured test plans and test cases.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Collaborate with developers and other QA team members to troubleshoot issues and verify fixes.
  • Perform regression, integration, and exploratory testing on new and existing features.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of test reports, summarizing test execution results.
  • Actively participate in daily standups, sprint planning, and other Agile ceremonies.
  • Provide feedback to the development team on areas of improvement in the user experience and overall product quality.
  • Ensure that testing is completed within the project timelines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

Must Have's:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in software/firmware testing with a solid understanding of QA principles.
  • Strong attention to detail with a passion for delivering high-quality software.
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and testing methodologies.

Nice to Have's:

  • Familiarity with Linux OS and command line.
  • Knowledge of video technologies such as streaming protocols (e.g., HLS, DASH), codecs (e.g. MPEG2, H264), DRM, and content delivery networks (CDNs).
  • Familiarity with video analysis tools and techniques.
  • Practical knowledge of the OSI model and networking concepts especially those used for video delivery over IP, e.g. VLAN, UDP, RTP, Multicast, Route table.
  • Experience working with cloud technologies and micro-service architecture.
  • Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g. VMWare, Docker).
  • Resides in east of the GTA, preferably in the Durham region.
