About the Role:

SMS Equipment Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Welding Operations Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and economical operation of our welding facilities. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating welding activities, ensuring that all operations meet the required standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the welding shop and field operations to ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of tradespeople to ensure efficient and effective operation of the welding facilities.
  • Conduct regular inspections and evaluations to ensure that SMS Equipment Inc. quality standards are met.
  • Ensure that payroll and human resources policies and procedures are implemented and enforced.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by developing and enforcing procedures and regulations.
  • Ensure that tradespeople are exercising safe procedures and that trade practices are followed.
  • Track and arrange C.W.B. training, OHSE required training, and site-specific orientations.
  • Provide service information to customers and resolve any service issues.
  • Resolve issues by asking questions, determining the cause, explaining best solutions, and following up to ensure resolution.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a qualified Welder and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory position.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining equipment.
  • Journeyperson certification (red seal) in Welding is required.
  • Organized and highly motivated with good time management skills.
  • Possess a strong customer focus.
  • Strong computer skills, to include Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of C.W.B, OH&S acts, and regulations and equipment inspection requirements.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate a large shop operation.
  • Valid Class 5/G drivers license.

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires regular work at our customers' location.
  • Must be able to complete a drug and alcohol check, drivers abstract, and reference check.
