Job Title: Welding Supervisor

At SMS Equipment, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Welding Supervisor to join our team in Timmins, ON. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and economical operation of our welding facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee welding shop and field operations to ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities to meet operational requirements, including scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Conduct regular inspections and evaluations to ensure SMS quality standards are met.
  • Ensure payroll and human resources policies and procedures are enforced and maintained.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by developing and enforcing procedures and regulations.
  • Ensure tradespeople are exercising safe procedures and following trade practices.
  • Track and arrange training and orientations for tradespeople.
  • Provide service information to customers and resolve any service issues.
  • Resolve issues by asking questions, determining the cause, explaining best solutions, and following up to ensure resolution.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a qualified Welder and 3 years in a supervisory position.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining equipment.
  • Journeyperson certification (red seal) in Welding is required.
  • Organized and highly motivated with good time management skills.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of C.W.B, OH&S acts, and regulations and equipment inspection requirements.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate a large shop operation.
  • Valid Class 5/G drivers license.

This position requires regular work at our customers' location. Candidates must be able to complete the following requirements to gain access to the worksite:
