Job Summary

Awarded the prestigious title of Strategic Building Systems Manager at Apotex, you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth operation and maintenance of all facilities in a customer-centric manner. As a key member of the Building Systems team, your primary objective is to ensure that all facility systems are functioning safely, efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement departmental priorities to deliver exceptional services, guaranteeing reliable, safe, and efficient operation and maintenance of all facility systems, ensuring seamless regulatory compliance.
  • Cultivate, train, develop, and manage the performance of direct reports, fostering a culture of excellence and growth.
  • Oversee facility maintenance, repairs, and minor renovations of existing buildings, building systems, equipment, grounds, control, and utility systems, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Establish effective programs to direct and manage calibration services for all building systems, equipment, and components, as well as in-house calibration services for manufacturing equipment and components, adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Determine priorities for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance needs, assigning tasks to staff and contractors as required, and completing work in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure documentation and approval of work related to maintenance, calibration, repair, or alteration relevant to building systems and equipment, including service reports, calibration certificates, CMMS work orders, etc.
  • Represent the department on committees, providing expertise in facilities management.
  • Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions as necessary, ensuring seamless operations and activities.
  • Implement staff training programs to guarantee GMP compliance and adherence to Apotex Inc.'s policies and procedures.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations to Facilities Development to proactively plan future facility requirements, supporting design evaluation to assess new equipment and facilities construction projects.
  • Ensure assigned projects are completed within deadlines by managing budget/tender/contract/purchase/receipt/payment and reconciliation processes.
  • Manage the cost center budget, reporting variances while taking action to maintain solid fiscal management for building system assets.
  • Promote continuous improvement through Total Quality Management programs, driving efficiency and excellence.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established regulatory and compliance, safety requirements, and Corporate Values.

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technologist Diploma (Mechanical) or Second-Class Stationary Engineering Certificate, post-graduate courses in building systems desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in large physical plant management.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical water systems and GMP systems preferred.
