Job Summary

BC Housing is seeking a skilled Pest Control Specialist to join our team. As a Pest Control Specialist, you will be responsible for operating heat treatment and pest control equipment to effectively treat bed bug and other pest infested areas on Commission-owned properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Heat Treatment Equipment
    • Set up and operate heat treatment equipment, including heaters, fans, and remote temperature sensors.
    • Monitor equipment and ensure safe operation.
  • Prepare Treatment Areas
    • Prepare areas to be treated by removing combustibles, garbage, and other items that could be damaged by heat.
    • Secure loose papers and other items that could be blown by high-velocity fans.
  • Interact with Tenants
    • Explain pre- and post-treatment instructions to tenants.
    • Deliver notices to tenants as required.
  • Record Data
    • Record data on a laptop and on paper forms.
  • Perform Other Duties
    • Perform safety checks as required.
    • Perform other assigned duties as required and qualified.

Requirements

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of pest control principles and practices.
    • Ability to operate heat treatment equipment safely and effectively.
    • Ability to interact with tenants in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Education and Experience
    • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. environmental health, pest control).
    • Experience in pest control or a related field.

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and may be required to work in a variety of settings, including Commission-owned properties and other locations as required.
