POSITION OVERVIEW
The role involves the operation of thermal treatment and pest management apparatus to effectively address infestations of bed bugs and other pests in properties managed by the organization, including those run by community housing partners.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
EXPERTISE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
Executes pest management thermal treatment tasks: Adheres to safety protocols consistently; Prepares the area or unit for treatment according to thermal treatment guidelines, addressing any issues prior to commencing (removing combustibles/garbage, relocating clothing, furniture, and personal items to facilitate equipment operation, disposing of perishable foods, disconnecting electronics, covering sprinkler systems and heat detectors, sealing potential heat loss areas, securing loose papers or items that may be displaced by high-velocity fans); Sets up heaters, fans, extension cords, main generator cables, and remote temperature monitoring devices; Operates and oversees the equipment, including physically monitoring heat treatment apparatus in the heated environment (up to 57°C or 135°F) and remotely supervising via a laptop; Activates and deactivates the diesel generator; Enters the treatment area throughout the day to reposition furniture, beds, box springs, clothing, drawers, heaters, and fans as necessary for optimal treatment; Returns tenant furniture to its original position upon completion of treatment; Documents data on a laptop and in paper records; May provide pre- and post-treatment guidance to tenants and distribute notifications; Conducts safety inspections as needed; Performs additional assigned responsibilities as required and qualified; Offers other pest management services as required and qualified; Operates the organization’s vehicle, including trailers, and loads/unloads tools, materials, and/or equipment as necessary; Must utilize tact and diplomacy in potential tenant interactions, referring tenants to other staff when appropriate; may occasionally need to employ interpersonal and conflict resolution skills when engaging with the resident community.
