About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Social Worker, you will provide collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum, focusing on the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university, current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, and 2 years' post BSW related clinical experience. Previous experience working in community-based settings is preferred. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to use a client-/family-centered approach, familiarity with various evidence-based treatment approaches, and excellent communication skills.

The Social Worker will work collaboratively with community partners, assist patients and families with navigation of local community resources and agencies, and demonstrate effective time management and disciplined self-organization. Competencies in other languages, particularly French and Mi'kmaw, are an asset.

About You
  • • Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university
  • • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • • 2 years' post BSW related clinical experience required
  • • Previous experience working in community-based settings preferred
  • • Demonstrated ability to use a client-/family-centered approach
  • • Familiarity with various evidence-based treatment approaches
  • • Excellent communication skills
  • • Demonstrated ability to assist patients and families with navigation of local community resources and agencies
  • • Valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • • Ability to demonstrate effective time management and disciplined self-organization
  • • Demonstrated comfort and skills working collaboratively with community partners
  • • Competencies in other languages an asset, French and Mi'kmaw preferred
Hours
  • • Permanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • • Travel to various sites required
Compensation and Incentives

$42.89 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
