About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our interdisciplinary health care team. As a member of our team, you will provide collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. A minimum of 2 years' post BSW related clinical experience is required, with previous experience working in a community-based setting being an asset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem-solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.
  • Use a client-/family-centered approach to provide care and support.
  • Familiarity with various evidence-based treatment approaches, including Motivational Interviewing and behavior change counseling.
  • Ability to complete biopsychosocial assessments and provide effective time management and disciplined self-organization.
  • Competencies in other languages, particularly French and Mi'kmaw, are an asset.
Working Conditions

This is a permanent full-time position, with 75 hours bi-weekly. Travel to various sites is required.

Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $42.89 and may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
