About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Supply Chain Specialist to join our team at Safariland Group. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for purchasing and negotiating the acquisition of materials, supplies, and equipment used by our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Strategic Supply Chain Manager, you will purchase or negotiate the purchase of materials, supplies, and equipment, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • You will assist with designated general service functions and perform other related work as required.
  • Review purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy, evaluating the method of procurement and determining specification requirements and vendor pool.
  • Secure and compare information regarding source of supply, price, quality, availability, terms, and conditions for varied materials, supplies, services, and equipment.
  • Minimize the number of Goods-in-Transit (GWTs) between plants by ensuring materials arrive at the correct plant when required according to Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Issue purchase orders to procure designated types of commodities and equipment, based on company policy, and prepare revisions to purchase orders when requirements change or costs exceed the original order.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to allow for internal visibility of material status and visibility to purchasing on-time delivery.
  • Monitor contracts and orders, expediting delivery, comparing invoices to purchase orders, and reconciling discrepancies.
  • Escalate disputes, delivery dates, material shortages, and other issues to the Strategic Supply Specialist for resolution.
  • Explain policies and procedures to individuals needing to procure materials, services, and supplies, ensuring compliance with purchasing policies and procedures approved by the Strategic Supply Chain Manager.
  • Travel is required for this role.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a degree or diploma from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, commerce, materials management, or a related field.
  • Certificate: Possession of a Certified Purchasing Professional or Certified in Production and Inventory Management is desirable.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience as a buyer.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of purchasing in the private sector, including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Previous experience procuring materials, equipment, and supplies commonly used in electronics and soft-goods manufacturing.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to buy items of the right quantity and quality, at the right price, at the right time from the right source.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
