Job Title: Laboratory Technician GNT

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician GNT to join our Genetics Laboratory team at North York General Hospital. As a Laboratory Technician GNT, you will work under the supervision of laboratory technologists to perform various laboratory tasks, including receiving and accessioning samples, setting up and harvesting samples, preparing slides, and maintaining laboratory equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and accession samples into the laboratory database
  • Set up, harvest samples, and perform other tissue culture duties as assigned
  • Prepare slides and prepare/replenish media, solutions, and reagents
  • Prepare supplies for autoclave and wash/maintain clean laboratory ware
  • Unpack, store, and stock supplies/reagents
  • Participate in quality and safety protocols and accurately maintain records
  • Perform other duties as required in accordance with laboratory policies

Requirements:

  • Registered with or eligible for registration with a professional association such as MLPAO or CMLTO
  • Laboratory experience required, with Cytogenetics experience an asset

COVID-19 Vaccination:

As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital's Occupational Health and Safety department.
