Production Supervisor Role Overview

As a Production Supervisor at Arc'teryx, you will be accountable for overseeing the production workflow and ensuring timely delivery. You will lead and maintain effective production lines, promoting safe and efficient production methods while consistently meeting quality standards and delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead strong production lines by fostering a positive and high-performance culture through motivating, empowering, and enabling operators to be at their best.
  • Ensure relevant KPIs are set, communicated, and achieved on a regular basis, proactively addressing issues and concerns brought up by your team.
  • Support frontline operators through regular one-on-one coaching and manage disciplinary actions and documentation as needed.
  • Monitor and assess employee performance, providing feedback to ensure timely training and workforce planning, recognizing or taking disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Coordinate proper training for new and existing employees to nurture new talents and strengthen skill levels, fostering a collaborative team-based environment that promotes knowledge sharing and cross-training of skills.
  • Efficiently plan the distribution of work to ensure a constant flow of tasks to the entire team, liaising with raw materials and planning teams, and preparing production plans to meet customer delivery dates.
  • Proactively partner, communicate, and problem-solve with other departments (such as Engineering, Training, Quality, Maintenance, etc.) to ensure continuous improvements of effective and efficient production are achieved and maintained.
  • Effectively communicate and coach your team to manage daily production workflow, coordinate manpower, and ensure work equipment is properly maintained and managed as needed.
  • Promote a clean and safe working environment by following 6S principles.
  • Track attendance and approve time off based on resource planning for your production lines.
  • Review relevant data to understand the performance of the production lines, update the DPU's, AQL, and SQDIP boards daily, and communicate performance effectively to your people leader, peers, and direct reports.
  • Effectively use different software programs and monitor, update, and manage daily issues and data reporting.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned, which may include LEAN manufacturing, health and safety, best place to work, factory tours, and improvements.
  • Ensure production-related data in our internal systems are accurate and updated on time, providing clear visibility and interactive functions to enable accurate reporting and planning in relation to delivery, quality, planning, and performance management.
  • Prepare and communicate production status updates to key internal and external collaborators on a regular basis (daily, weekly, and monthly) to get aligned about focuses, priorities, and projections.
  • Support other special projects as assigned.

Future Opportunities
  • Build relationships with Production Planning and learn how to plan and organize manpower to prevent backlogs and bottlenecks.
  • Work on projects in collaboration with Engineering and Production Quality to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of production line operations.

Requirements
  • 5+ years' experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume frontline environment and 2+ years of progressive experience in a leadership role.
  • Strong leadership ability and team-building skills with a diverse work group.
  • Proficient English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and problem-solving skills with a high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Team player with the ability to communicate and interface with cross-functional teams effectively with respect and tactfulness.
  • Strong computer skills with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Microsoft Teams, ERP, and/or MRP systems.
  • Proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions.
  • Remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity.
  • Balance autonomy and collaboration.
  • Inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement.
  • Seek the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right.
  • Passion for your work paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it.

Assets
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Business Administration, or another relevant field.
  • Experience working in an apparel industry.
  • Experience in manual and automation operations.
  • Knowledge and experience working with LEAN, 6S, and working with KPIs.
