This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of quantum algorithm solutions and activities that train industrial and academic partners. As a Staff Scientist, you will play a vital role in providing scientific solutions for academic and industrial challenges in various fields, including biology, chemistry, finance, machine learning, physics, and more.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with customers to conceptualize and implement quantum computing solutions using CMC's quantum computing capabilities
- Ensure delivery of high-quality projects to clients
- Lead research projects and work with team members to support CMC's activities and customers
- Provide documentation, training, and support to users on a quantum computing platform
- Participate in outreach efforts, including presentations, scientific events, and networking within the quantum community
- Contribute to the grant writing process for projects when required
- Experience with one or more quantum programming languages, such as Qiskit, Pennylane, Cirq, or Forest
- Experience with one or more classical programming languages, including Python, C/C++, or Julia
- Experience with Qiskit pulse is an asset
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with various members of a research group and communicate clearly with specialists and non-specialists
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to demonstrate rigour, autonomy, dynamism, curiosity, and excellent organizational skills
- A very good knowledge of spoken and written English; French is an asset
- The ability to write clear, structured, and concise documents
- Willingness to work flexible hours during peak periods and occasional travel
- A master's or PhD in physics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a relevant field with a solid background in quantum physics, quantum computing, and/or machine learning and/or high-performance computing
- Minimum 2 years of experience with a proven track record of developing quantum algorithms
- Development of quantum algorithms in an industry setting is an asset
- Qiskit Certificate and participation in the Qiskit advocate program are an asset
