Counselor for Mental Health Services

We are seeking a skilled Counselor for Mental Health Services to join our team at Burnaby Hospital. As a Social Worker I (Acute Care), you will play a vital role in providing psychosocial assessments and support services to patients and families.
Burnaby Hospital is undergoing a major redevelopment project, which will transform the hospital into a modernized medical and surgical healthcare campus. This presents an exciting opportunity for us to build a talented team that shares our commitment to delivering high-quality care.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments and developing treatment plans
- Providing counseling services to patients and families to address mental health concerns and facilitate adjustment to illness
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care
- Clinical Counseling: Provide individual, couples, family, or group counseling sessions to assist patients and families in coping with mental health issues and adjusting to illness
- Psychosocial Assessment: Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments to identify patient and family needs, develop treatment plans, and set goals and objectives
- Community Resources: Connect patients and families with community resources, services, and support to aid in their recovery and well-being
- Education and Support: Offer educational sessions to patients and families on coping strategies, lifestyle changes, and treatment options
- Masters degree in Social Work from an approved school of Social Work
- Two years of recent clinical experience
- Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers
